The NFL continues to show its drawing power in Germany. According to a study by The Sports Consultancy, the first regular season NFL game in Berlin generated an economic impact of €74.3 million for the city and state.
72,203 fans at Olympiastadion
The Indianapolis Colts faced the Atlanta Falcons at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on November 9, 2025. In front of 72,203 spectators, the Colts won 31-25 in overtime. Around eight million viewers reportedly watched worldwide on TV.
The numbers also highlight fan spending: visitors spent an average of €373 per day. Berlin is investing €12.5 million in the event series, while the NFL is contributing €48 million.
Football as an economic factor
The game was accompanied by a three-day American football festival, with flag football also in focus ahead of its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028.
