Rams set an early tone

The Los Angeles Rams are already one of the most intriguing defensive storylines before training camp. After trading for pass rusher Myles Garrett, expectations have changed quickly.

Safety Kam Curl added to that momentum by saying the group has the kind of experience, coaching and playmaking talent that could make it one of the best units in football.

Garrett changes the equation

Garrett can alter the Rams’ pass rush without forcing the defense to blitz constantly. That should help the secondary and create tougher decisions for opposing quarterbacks.

With names such as Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson and Curl on the back end, Los Angeles has the pieces to become more flexible and aggressive.

Why it matters

It is still only June, but the message is clear: the Rams are not talking about small improvement. They want to become a defensive measuring stick in 2026.
