AFLE Week 2: European homegrown players make a statement
AFLE highlights its Homegrowns of Week 2. Soulerot, Mayr, Straight, Pene and Kensy show how important European players can become for the league.
Homegrowns in the spotlight
Week 2 in AFLE did not only produce clear results. It also delivered several strong individual performances from European players. With its Homegrowns of Week 2 feature, the league highlights players who are proving that local talent can shape games.
The most interesting part: the impact came across different teams and positions. Running back, receiver, defense and linebacker all had European names in focus.
Paris, Vienna and Rhein Fire send signals
For the Paris Lights, Armand Soulerot impressed with his versatility in both the run and pass game. In Vienna, Yannick Mayr and Benjamin Straight stood out: Mayr with explosive big plays, Straight with leadership and defensive presence.
On defense, Wilfried Pene created pressure for Paris at the line of scrimmage, while Rhein Fire linebacker Marius Kensy stood out with tackles, a safety play and an interception.
Why it matters
For AFLE, this is an important development. A new league needs more than big names and imports. It needs European faces that fans can identify with and teams can build around.
Week 2 shows that these players are not just roster depth. They can change games, create momentum and give franchises an early identity.
European players in AFLE are not just part of the roster – they are becoming real difference makers.
